2013 Football Canada Cup all-stars announced
Football Canada is proud to announce the 2013 Football Canada Cup all-stars that competed at the under-18 national tackle football championship from July 15-21 in Moncton, New Brunswick.
“This year’s Canada Cup in Moncton showcased the most talent I’ve ever seen in the under-18 age group and made the selection of the all-star team a daunting task,” explained Junior National Team head coach, Warren Craney.
“Watching every game and practice live, talking with provincial coaching staffs and watching game tape, I believe has validated the process. The task of selecting all-stars was difficult and time consuming – we had to make some pretty difficult decisions but I believe we’ve selected a great group of players that will make Canada proud.”
All-stars earn invitations to national team
With their selection this group of all-stars have now earned an automatic invitation to the under-18 national team to compete against Team USA. The game is tentatively scheduled to be played in February of 2014 in Dallas, Texas. The final 14 players will be decided once the coaching staff has been confirmed for the event. This staff will be made up of coaches that participated in the 2013 Football Canada Cup.
The identification process aggregated rankings from participating provincial coaches, 2014 Junior National Team head coach, Warren Craney and two coordinators as well as the Game MVP Committee.
