2018 IFAF Flag Football World Championships begin Thursday in Panama City
Canada’s Male and Female National Teams to compete in tournament
The 2018 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Flag Football World Championships are set to start on Thursday morning in Panama City, Panama.
Canada will have squads competing in both the male and female divisions at the tournament. Both teams are looking to improve on their placements from the 2016 event which was held in Miami, Florida. In that event, the Female National Team finished fourth while the Male National Team finished fifth.
Francois Bougie is the Head Coach of the Female National Team. The squad will begin competing on Thursday August 9, 2018 against host Panama at 1:00pm EST. Then on Friday August 10, 2018, Canada will face Brazil at 11:45am EST and the Czech Republic at 2:15pm EST. On the final day of round robin play, Canada will square off against Guatemala at 2:15pm EST and Japan at 8:30pm EST.
Meanwhile, the Male National Team, who is led by Head Coach Chad Palmer, will open their tournament against Israel on Thursday August 9, 2018 at 8:00 EST. Their next games will be Friday August 10, 2018 against Mexico at 11:45am EST and Denmark at 2:15pm EST. On Saturday August 11, 2018, Canada will battle Guatemala at 2:15pm EST and then host Panama at 7:15pm EST.
