CJFL roundup (Sept. 25-27)
The Sun, Broncos and Raiders win in Week 9
After a barn burner and two blowouts, Week 9 is in the books as the Okanagan Sun, VI Raiders and Kamloops Broncos each claimed victory.
RAIDERS 24 – RAMS 18
Despite being beat in almost all offensive categories the VI Raiders went into Langley and beat the Rams 24-18, sweeping the seasonal series.
Raiders quarterback Liam O’Brien was sacked another eight times, as he completed just nine passes for 255 yards and threw a touchdown to Arthur Fabbaro. O’Brien used his legs 11 times and scored two majors gaining 57 yards. Fabbro and Dustin Rodriguez each caught four passes, Fabbro for 124 yards and Rodriguez for 119.
Defensively the Raiders held the Rams to just eight points after halftime. Both Cole Virtanen and Alex Eberling intercepted passes while Nigel Henry, Max Baldam and Adam McDonald made five tackles.
Following the win the Raiders (6-3) clinch second place and will host a BCFC semi-final game. They will play in Valley on Saturday afternoon against the Huskers (0-9).
The Langley Rams seemingly did everything right on Saturday night, but couldn’t score against the Raiders. Gaining 426 total yards offensively compared to the Raiders 297, the passing attack was solid with the exception of a pair of interceptions.
Quarterback Dylan Tucker was 22 of 36 for 309 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Bobby Pospischil. Khalik Johnson caught a game night eight passes for 102 yards.

This match-up may have been a playoff preview. The Rams (5-4) need a victory in Westshore on Saturday afternoon against the Rebels (2-7) to clinch the third spot.
SUN 51 – REBELS 10
The Okanagan Sun continued to role on Saturday afternoon blasting the Westshore Rebels 51-10 on the strength of five touchdown passes from quarterback Cam Bedore in the first quarter. He hooked up with Kyle Kawamoto and Thomas Huber twice and Pierre Luc-Lord to jump in front of the Rebels.
Bedore finished nine of 11 for 233 yards and those five touchdown passes. Josiah Joseph completed eight of 12 for 90 yards and threw a major to Shai Ross. Nine different receivers were used and Jesse Falconer made his first BCFC reception.
In all, the Sun tallied 415 yards through the air and 561 overall.
The Sun defence again held a team under 100 yards rushing as the Rebels gained just 33. Jonas Gering and Keagan Hughes both had sacks and Kent Lawrence recovered a fumble. Isaiah Stewart finished with a team high four stops.
On Saturday night the Sun (9-0) will visit Kamloops to play the Broncos (5-4) at Hillside Stadium in the BCFC regular season finale.
The Westshore Rebels didn’t muster much against the powerful defence. Quarterback Tayln Davies was 18 of 30 for 225 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Eric Williams. His top target was Hunter Lake who caught nine passes for 79 yards.
The only other points scored came from a 26 yard field goal from Bryce Couture.
