Canada opens U-19 World Championship against Kuwait on July 7
After a week-long training camp in Italy, Canada is ready to defend its International Federation of American Football (IFAF) U-19 World Championship title in Kuwait.
Canada opens their tournament on July 7 against host Kuwait who will be making their tournament debut.
All of the tournament’s games will take place at either 8 or 11 PM local time which translates into 1 or 4 PM ET .
After two days rest, Canada will play its second game against France on Thursday July 10 followed by its third on Sunday July 13 against Austria. France finished in 6th position in 2012 while Austria dropped the bronze medal game to Japan, finishing 4th.
Canada and Team USA have met in the first two IFAF U-19 World Championship gold medal games with Canada avenging a 2009 loss in 2012 to capture gold. Should history repeat for a third time, the game would serve as a tiebreaker for the North American rivalry.
