Football Canada announces Senior Flag Invitational
Winners to represent Canada at World Championships
Halifax, Nova Scotia will play host to the 2016 Senior Flag Football Invitational, from Friday May 27 through Sunday May 29, to determine who will represent Canada at the 2016 IFAF (Senior Men’s and Women’s) Flag Football World Championships in the Bahamas.
The 2016 Senior Flag Football Invitational follows the Flag Football National Championships which take place the weekend prior in Halifax.
Those interested in fielding teams for the 5-on-5 invitational are asked to contact their provincial football association (see list below). Participating teams must be part of a league that is a member of their provincial association. Participants must also be at least 18 years of age as of December 31, 2015 (born no later than 1997) and be residents of Canada in order to compete. In addition, players must be Canadian citizens to be eligible to represent Canada at the worlds should their team win the invitational.
Canada’s women are the defending gold medalist from the 2014 and 2010 worlds. Canada’s men look to improve upon a fourth place finish at the 2014 worlds.
