Football Canada unveils U16 Top 100 Futures
Football Canada highlights the future talent of Canadian amatuer football presented by CFL Futures
Ottawa, ON (November 28, 2019) – The future looks bright for 100 young Canadian players, born between the years 2004-2005. Football Canada has named 100 athletes to the Top 100 Futures list to provide a spotlight for the next generation of canadian football high performance athletes. Over the next year these players will be featured as they work towards the next step on their football journey
These stars of tomorrow showcased their skills during the 2019 under-16 Eastern Challenge in Kingston, ON and under-16 Western Challenge in Kamloops, BC.
“We really want to be able to highlight the talent and hard work of these players,” commented Director of Sport Aaron Geisler. “Our under-16 challenges have provided a great showcase for these athletes and it keeps getting better every year. By providing the players a platform to be promoted to the community we hope people can get to know them early as they move through their high performance pathway”
As for the list, eight provinces are represented from across the nation. Quebec has the most players listed with 23. Sask and Alberta have 15 and 14 players respectively. Furthermore, British Columbia has 13 players while Nova Scotia and Manitoba both have 6. Ontario has 11 players represented and New Brunswick rounds out the provincial representation with 12 players.
Highlighting the top 100 futures list are six players who earned MVP status at their respective U16 challenges; Running Back Zachary Pipe (Alberta), Athlete Zachary Bouchard (Quebec), Defensive Back Alexander MacDonald (Nova Scotia), Linebacker Ryan Makowsky (Saskatchewan), Kickers Rycker Pearson (BC) and Samuel Tremblay (Quebec)
