Get to know 2018 Jr. National Team Kicker Antoine Couture
Couture is a kicker from Montreal, Quebec who will be participating in the 2018 IFAF World Junior Championships in Mexico City, Mexico as a member of Canada’s Junior National Team.
A change of scenery is how Couture was introduced to the gridiron.
“I was in a high school I didn’t like so I changed high schools,” he recalled. “I saw that they had football so I just wanted to start playing football.”
The kicker has played for RSEQ Division 1’s Notre-Dame Cactus and CEGEP Division 1’s Andre-Grasset Phenix.
Moreover, he represented his province as a member of Team Quebec and his country as a part of Team Canada’s under-18 Junior National team at this past January at the 2018 International Bowl in Arlington, Texas.
“It was fun,” the kicker reflected of the International Bowl experience. “I felt like I was home.”
“It was my duty to play there.”
The highlight of his career has been winning trophies with his teammates who Couture considers his friends. Additionally, he has appreciated the support and encouragement his parents, grandmother, girlfriend and friends have given him which has enabled him to pursue his football goals.
The kicker is enthusiastic of the opportunity to wear the maple leaf on his jersey while representing Canada at the 2018 IFAF World Junior Championships.
“I just want to have fun,” Couture expressed. “There is no pressure.”
“I just want to go down there and have fun.”
