Get to Know Jr. National Team running back Keegan Vicklund
Keegan Vicklund is a running back from Abbotsford, British Columbia who will represent Canada at the 2018 IFAF World Junior Championships this month in Mexico City, Mexico,
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, VIcklund was introduced to the sport when he moved to Vernon, British Columbia.
“My parents asked me when we first got there if I was interested in playing the sport,” he recalled. “I ended up trying football and liked it ever since.”
Among the teams Vicklund has suited up for during his career include three teams in the Vernon Minor Football League, both the Vernon Secondary Panthers and Robert Bateman Timberwolves of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA) as well as the Valley Huskers of the British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL).
Daily, Vicklund strives to improve and be more knowledgeable when it comes to the sport.
Excited to represent Canada at the 2018 IFAF World Junior Championships, the running back is looking forward to a positive experience at the tournament.
“It’s going to be a great experience to get my name out there in Mexico City,” he expressed. “I have never been there so it’s going to be a great experience.”
“It means to me to bring the athleticism down from Canada in the game of football and show them what we can do. Canada can play football.”
