Get to know U16 West All Star Team Defensive Back , Adam Fast!
Adam Fast is a defensive back from Winnipeg, Manitoba who will be competing at the 2018 International Bowl as a member of the Under-16 Western Canadian Team.
Fast got his first taste of the sport when he was in elementary school. After playing the sport on his school’s backyard, he was instantaneously hooked.
“I asked my parents if I could play tackle football and they said “yes”, and I loved it ever since,” recalled the defensive standout.
Among the teams Fast has suited up for during his career include community team Valour, the Patriots and the Kelvin Clippers of the Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL).
The defensive back helped Team Manitoba win a silver medal at this past summer’s Under-16 Western Challenge in Lethbridge, Alberta.
“I think it was great on and off the field,” reflected Fast of the tournament. “I got along well with the guys and they are all good guys.”
“On the field, we had a great chemistry and we came second. Overall, it was a great experience.”
Fast tries to emulate NFL star Eric Berry who currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs when he plays the sport.
However, the Manitoba standout said his parents have been his main influences. Due to that, it has enabled Fast to achieve success both on the football field and in all other endeavours.
“They keep me motivated and keep me going,” expressed Fast.
When he learned the news that he made the national team, the defensive back was emotional and plans to soak up the experience of competing at the 2018 International Bowl for Canada.
“It means so much to me,” added Fast. “I am looking forward to bonding with other guys and also looking forward to playing at that level.”
