Halifax set to host 2016 Flag Nationals
Action begins this Friday at Dalhousie University
The 2016 Flag Football National Championships are set to begin on Friday May 20 and will run through Sunday May 22 at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to host the rest of Canada in an event such as the flag nationals,” Football Nova Scotia president, Gary Linthorne said. “The facility at Dalhousie University is an exceptional one and we look forward to hosting an exciting weekend of games.”
“Since last hosting this event in 2011, we’ve seen phenomenal flag football growth within the province of Nova Scotia, especially over the last two years, as participation continues to rise from Halifax to the South Shore and Annapolis Valley. We hope that this tournament continues to spur the growth of flag football as people from across the province take in the action.”

Following two days of round robin play, Sunday’s final day of action concludes with bronze and gold medal games, starting at 1 p.m. AT.
The field of play features five divisions including the introduction of an under-20 male division which builds on previously established U16 and U18 divisions. In 2016, the event also moves from the end of summer to a new time in the spring.
The flag nationals were established in 2007 and return to Halifax after serving as the province’s last host site in 2011.
