Hamilton-Wentworth Minor Football Association (HWMFA) to become Football Canada’s first Safe Contact Association
Football Canada and the Ontario Football Alliance will be working with the Hamilton-Wentworth Minor Football Association (HWMFA) to pilot a winter fundamentals session that will include Football Canada’s Safe Contact programming. The HWMFA’s annual winter skills camp for players age 7-14 will run from Saturday, January 11, 2014 until March 8, 2014.
The goal of this pilot is to teach under-14 athletes the fundamentals of football by incorporating safe tackling and blocking techniques using Football Canada’s Safe Contact module. This pilot will be used in conjunction with pilots from across the country to create a standardized program.
In conjunction with this initiative the Hamilton-Wentworth Minor Football Association will be taking the steps necessary to become Football Canada’s first Safe Contact Association.
To become a Safe Contact Association through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and Football Canada’s Safe Contact program, an organization must meet the following criteria:
