Position Title: Head Coach and Manager of Football Operations
Department: Athletics and Recreational Services
Duration: Multi-year contract
Position Summary:
We are excited to announce that the University of Waterloo is currently recruiting for a new Head Coach and Manager of Football Operations. This position reports to the Associate Director, Athletics and is responsible for all areas of the football program including recruitment, financial management and leadership development. You will be accountable to create a strategic multi-year program plan that includes assessment and evaluation of football staff, student-athletes and team performance
Our ideal candidate is committed to leading a high performance program within the context of an internationally recognized innovative university. You bring at least 5 years of football coaching experience, preferably at the university level. To be successful in this role you must have effective communication skills and proven organization, leadership and management skills.
Education & Experience Required:
- University degree or equivalent combination of education (preferably in a field related to athletics, recreation and/or management) and head coaching experience is required.
- Extensive and demonstrated success in high-performance coaching of men’s football with progression to an elite level.
- Must show a strong commitment to the academic goals of the student-athlete and be able to promote and support the university’s mission
- Strong familiarity with inter-university recruiting needs, and an established network of football connections in Ontario and Canada is essential
- Proven fundraising experience and a commitment to relationship building with stakeholders including alumni and community
- Exceptional interpersonal and team building skills required to steward the program within the university environment and the broader community
- Strong mentoring and motivational skills to manage a football coaching staff and student-athletes
- Proven organizational, management, and sport administration skills
- Extensive experience in developing, facilitating, and evaluating a high-performance football program including the creation of strategic and operational plans
- Proven skill in developing and maintaining budgets associated with an athletic program
- Experience in negotiation, conflict management, and the promotion of cooperation is vital
- Travel and work outside of traditional working hours is required
