Football Canada #2014FFNC

Football Canada is proud to unveil Prince Edward Island as host of the 2014 Flag Football National Championships to be played July 25 to 27 in Charlottetown. The flag nationals return to PEI for the first time in 5 years after last being hosted in the province in 2008.

“Football PEI is excited with the chance to bring other provinces to PEI to participate in the flag nationals this summer,” said Football PEI Executive Director, Glen Flood.

“The hosting of the flag nationals gives continued exposure to flag football in PEI. It gives the province a chance to promote another form of the game [of football] to get boys and girls involved.”

Beginning in 2011, in accordance with the growth of flag football and the development of Football Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, the Flag Football National Championships modified its under-15 co-ed division to separate male and female under-16 divisions. The under-16 (U16) divisions supplemented the pre-existing U18 divisions which were added in 2010.

The 2014 edition of the flag nationals composed of three divisions – male and female under-16 (U16) divisions in addition to a female under-18 (U18) division – will host teams from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and host PEI.
