Ontario, Quebec win gold at Under-16 Eastern Flag Challenge
Missere, Morden, Lucyk and Hénault named tournament MVPs
Charlottetown, PE (August 4, 2019) – In the final day of competition at University of Prince Edward Island, Ontario and Quebec had a banner day.
In the Male Division, it was an all Ontario final for the gold medal. Ontario (1) defeated Ontario (2) 34-20 to take top place. Ontario (2) claimed silver.
Quebec got past Nova Scotia (2) 27-21 to win the bronze medal.
On Sunday morning, Quebec scored a 35-14 victory over Nova Scotia, Ontario (2) outlasted Nova Scotia (2) 20-13 and Ontario (1) cruised to a 38-15 win over Quebec.
Offensive MVP of the tournament was William Missere from Ontario (1). Matthew Morden from Ontario (2) was named Defensive MVP of the tournament.
As for the Female Division, Quebec defeated Nova Scotia (2) 13-6. Despite the loss, Nova Scotia claims silver.
In the bronze medal game, Ontario coasted to a 47-7 victory over Nova Scotia (1).
Earlier in the day, Nova Scotia (2) earned a 32-0 shutout victory over Prince Edward Island, Quebec earned a 54-0 win over New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island bested New Brunswick 39-6, Quebec cruised to a 27-6 victory over Nova Scotia (1) and Nova Scotia (2) got past Ontario 13-6.
Ontario’s Sloane Lucyk was named Offensive MVP of the tournament. As for Defensive MVP of the tournament it was Quebec’s Béatric Hénault.
