Saskatoon Hilltops capture 2016 Canadian Bowl
The Saskatoon Hilltops captured their sixth Canadian Bowl (Canadian Junior Football League championship) after a 37-25 victory over the host Westshore Rebels on Saturday, November 12 in Langford, BC.
A pair of national team alumni took home the game’s respective offensive and defensive MVP awards.
Logan Fischer, who represented Canada in the U19 game at the 2015 International Bowl, earned Saturday’s offensive honours after collecting a total of 298 yards, including 202 yards on the ground and a touchdown. The trophy marks another milestone for the young running back as Fischer was also awarded Canada’s player of the game honours at the International Bowl against the U.S. in 2015.
Linebacker Cody Peters, who represented Canada in the U19 game at the 2016 International Bowl, was awarded the game’s defensive MVP after recording 9 solo tackles in the Hilltops victory.
Congrats to both the Rebels and Hilltops on great seasons!
