Team Canada shores up roster inching towards 2018 IFAF World Junior Championships
In their final preparations before they leave for the 2018 IFAF World Junior Championships in Mexico City, Team Canada is updating and bolstering their roster.
This year’s roster is comprised of athletes from Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia.
Canada is heading into this tournament as the defending gold medallists, having won the gold medal at the 2016 event in Harbin, China.
The team will play their opening game of the tournament on Saturday July 14, 2018 against Sweden at 4:30pm CST.
“I’m very excited about this roster we have coming forward for the World Junior Championships this summer in Mexico City,” commented Head Coach Steve Sumarah. “We have a great mix of under-19 and under-18 from this past year’s International Bowl.”
“Some guys really stepped up and showed their worth for this program. It’s going to be exciting come July to have all of these guys together and to be able to put the best team forward we have to represent the country.”
