U15/ U18 NATIONAL FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Ontario Football Alliance and Football Canada are set to host the National Flag Football Championships in Ottawa. Games take place between Saturday, August 14 through Monday August 16 from approximately 9 am until 3:30 pm at Carleton University’s Ravens Field (Keith Harris Stadium) and Raven Road Field. This year’s event has been pushed back from its traditional July timeslot to coincide with the 2010 IFAF World Flag Football Championships. In this fashion, Canada’s best up and coming players are able to experience an international competition.
The Nationals showcase the top Canadian five-on-five flag football players in the Under 15 (U15) and Under 18 (U18) age divisions. The U15 features an East division represented by P.E.I., Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario while the Western division features British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The U18 division is represented by three female teams; Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia while the Men’s division features Manitoba, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Ontario.
The U15 finals take place on Ravens Field Monday August 16. The gold medal game is scheduled for 4 pm while the bronze medal game is scheduled for 2 pm. The Men’s U18 finals are scheduled for 3 pm while the Women’s final is scheduled for 10 am.
