Winner of Community Recognition Contest: Coach Eric Vincent
This submission comes from Lisa Cummings (@zueff60) who tagged us in a post on Instagram about a head coach named Eric Vincent, from Sturgeon Heights High School. It is so great to see members of the football community coming together to recognize the volunteers that work tirelessly to develop out athletes and make this wonderful game that much more enjoyable! This is what Lisa had to say,
“This is Coach Eric Vincent. As a fellow volunteer within our sport in Manitoba I couldn’t sit back and not tell you how much he works to improve football in our community. He’s the Head coach at Sturgeon Heights High School, taking care of both Varsity and JV football. Each player is taken under his wing and he helps them improve year round, helps them study to get their grades up and provides them with training plans and helps them set and Achieve goals. He is also one of the biggest supporters of girls and women’s football in the province.
He’s coached both levels of Women’s football, helped the Fearless women’s team with offseason training and spent hours helping plan the perfect first ever MGFA all star game. (Including taking a bus with giant bags of jerseys to ensure our girls has uniforms for the game)He was the GM for team MB u16, ensuring all players were taken care of on the road. He’s at our coaching clinics, on field and throughout the planning to ensure all of our coaches receive proper training.
He works tirelessly to improve the high performance programs within Football Manitoba and to help create youth opportunities to bring new kids into Flag or tackle programs. And he does this all just so kids have a positive experience in football. He’s been a mentor to both my kids and gotten them involved in giving back through coaching clinics and youth initiatives, developing future leaders in our province. He’s a board member, coach, volunteer, and I don’t think I could find anyone else who puts more into the game All for the benefit of the kids.”
Thank you for your submission Lisa, and thank you Eric Vincent for making the game of football that much better for these kids.
