B.C. FIGHTS BACK FOR WIN OVER ONT. EAST
WOLFVILLE, N.S. – B.C. didn’t travel from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast without a plan to move onto the next game. Cheered on by handful of fans, Team B.C. rallied back from a 18-3 halftime deficit with 24 unanswered points to grab a 27-18 win over Team Ontario East.
The comeback was spearheaded by Team B.C.’s 273 yard airiel attack that included quarterback Carson Williams’ 14 for 17 pass attempts that amounted to 204 yards and three touchdown strikes in the second half alone.
Ahead 18-3 at the half on a rouge; a 71 yard pass reception by Kyle McLean; a three yard run by Akeel Lynch and a 39 yard field goal by Tyler Crapigna, Team Ontario East was unable to hold onto the comfortable lead.
Nick Naylor was good on two field goals from 26 yards out in the closing minutes of the first half and a third quarter chip from 26 yards, along with two converted touchdowns as Team B.C. made their move to close the gap.
Tyler Fong scored the first B.C. major at 4:54 of the third quarter on a 7 yard pass from Williams. Teammate Terell Davis, less than two minutes later, closed the gap to one point on a 22 yard touchdown reception.
B.C. captured their first lead on the Naylor 26 yard field goal, followed by the eventual game winning touchdown with less than three minutes remaining in the final frame as Marshall Cook took a 25 yard pass to the end zone, capping a 96 yard drive.
The 434 net yards of B.C. offense was also complimented by 175 yards on the ground. Stephen Spagnuolo added 81 net yards while Terell Davis plugged away with 72 rushing yards.
Team Ontario East’s Akeel Lynch added 99 yards on the ground while teammate Kyle McLean posted 100 yards receiving for the losing cause.
Team B.C. will now prepare for Wednesday, July 14 as they meet Team Saskatchewan at 4:00 pm.
